Team: Haas F1 Team
Nationality: Denmark
The young Haas team celebrated its impressive debut in 2016, becoming the first all-American F1 team in three decades. They were founded by industrialist Gene Haas and are located in the same US plant in Kannapolis, North Carolina as his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series winning team, Stewart-Haas Racing. The team also has a British base at Marussia's former factory in Banbury. The power for the team's cars comes from Ferrari, with whom Haas has signed a multi-year technical contract. This means that the Scuderia also provides them with gearboxes and various other parts as well as support. Team principal is former Red Bull and Jaguar F1 chief technical officer Günther Steiner, former Marussia members Dave O'Neill and Rob Taylor are team manager and technical director, while chief aerodynamics is Ben Agathangelou.
The rapid progress compared to the previous year is continued with a rise to fifth place in the final score - and it could have been a fourth if it had not been for unnecessary mistakes. Poor pit stops for both cars in Australia rob them of the best ever race results, while fuel and illegal ground have resulted in disqualifications in the US and Italy. Still promising.
